I have in my two sites, the exact same build of Joomla 1.0.15 Stable, I have the exact same build of Export Content too!

I have used it before on other sites and it worked fine. For some reason this site it doesnt like. My sites were rebuildt and uploaded from a SQL dump so I am wondering if thats why and if so how to fix it. On my old original it worked great, but site doesnt work anymore.

I get 2 errors and I ahve tried uninstalling and recompiling the component and the data several times with no change, any help would be greatly appreciated. Here are the 2 errors I get when trying to install the downloaded component on the newer site.

File attachment does not work.
I have been having some problems with the forums (needs updating) so you may need to give me link to it.

This error is misleading it usually means that there is one or more characters that won't parse through the site installer.

Have you got Export Content version 1.7.0 installed on both Joomla 1.0.15 sites?

Or if things were working for you before a suggestion might be to try Export Content version 1.6 beta and see how it goes.

Have you got Export Content version 1.7.0 installed on both Joomla 1.0.15 sites? and yes I made sure everything matched becaus ei was so confused why it didnt work.

Would it matter that this content was made from a SQL dump?

And I did read that thread-but I dont see how to change or make sure its UTF-8, I didnt see anythign about encoding on any of the files.. or what line to change.

This error may indercate that the /media directory is not writable and should be set to 777.
Can you install other extensions?
If so as stated earlier it is more than likely one or more characters that want parse the installer.

Try creating a new static item with just a couple of words in it on the source site and compile it just to test if it will install on the destination site.

This will make it clear whether it is a character or some other problem like permissions.

Yes the spaces showing up as boxes would be the problem.
You may have pasted something out of word or some other text rich editor or it may because it was from a dump.

Your best bet is to edit them in Joomla content manager and change them to normal spaces by back spacing and using the space bar as you would normally.
