Everything ok but no content 6 Months ago Karma: 0
Everything exports and imports ok but when everything is done I go to all the content I have imported and the titles all show correctly but when I look in the actual articles, the data isnt there or it got some of it but not all of it. Sometimes it gets a couple sentences or a couple words but never the whole article. What am I doing wrong here? Exporting from Joomla! 1.0.13 Stable to Joomla! 1.5.3. I installed the respected components for each version so I am at a loss as to what is happening so I need your help. Thanks a bunch and great component.

Actually all I really need this to do is export from my 1.0.13 install of Joomla all the content and import it in to Joomla 1.5. This is in fact what this component is suppose to do right? I sure hope I can get it to work because this would be a godsend if I could get it to work. I just dont understand why it removes half the article in each instance.

While I wait for a response from the developer does anyone else have any input on this problem? Someone else must have run in to this problem considering the importing site is a stock, fresh install of Joomla! 1.5 so its shouldnt be all that tricky.

Hi CuriousG,

This is a new one and has not been reported before.

A couple of things we need to check is what versions of PHP are you running on the source/destination sites or are they on the same server.

Have you installed Export Content 1.7.0 on the Joomla 1.0.13 site?
And Export Content 2.0.0 on the Joomla 1.5+ site?

Ok assuming all that is correct the problem may be because Joomla 1.5 is running into a character it's choking on.

Back when Export Content was still being tested and trying to cover as many languages as possible I run into a similar issue when there were certain Korean characters in the article text.

Everything would import as expected but the text would only go as far as the first character it did not like and the rest of the text would go missing.

The odd part was that if I checked the database tables everything was there, it just would not display.

Joomla 1.5 was still in Beta at this stage so I assumed it was a problem with Joomla.

All that said it may or may not be what is causing the issue so if you can workout where it is being cut off and see if it's the same character or characters where the text ends we may be able to come up with a work around.

The new site is in a subdirectory on the same host until I get it up and running then I will move it in place of the old version.

PHP Version: 4.3.11 on both 1.5 and 1.0.13 and yes I installed the correct versions of your component per Joomla! installations.

All the content isnt showing up on every single article. It reaches a certain point and then thats it. I cant imagine it being any strange character outside of a comma or apostrophe.

Is it like that when you look at an article via the "edit" icon in "Export Content" or after you have transfered into the site or both?

As I say it could be any character like punctuation from MSword or something.
Was there any small squares where a character should be?
Is it all english?

When you look at the SQL install on the download page under trouble shooting on the source site is all the content there?

And if so can you post a section of text showing where it is cut off from.

This is one taken from the Article Manager using the "Edit" option showing the HTML source of the article after import.

Code:

<div class="mosimage"><hr id="system-readmore" /></div>Strauch said that the "seismic silence" remains, as no strong, alarming tremor has been reported in nearly a year and a half. An unpredictable, powerful quake can be expected after a long period of calm, he noted. The latest event registered, measuring 4.7 degrees on the Richter scale, was located in the Pacific, off Costa Rica, 118 miles from Managua, on Sunday. {mos
All the articles have the same 'wrong' Alias also for some reason. The title is fine but the alias is wrong and the same for all of them.
