ERROR: Could not find a Joomla! XML setup file in the packag 1 Year, 3 Months ago Karma: 0
I have an export file from a mambo 4.5 using beta 1.4 (any later version does not work, collapses with the mos sql problem reported elsewhere)

I try to install the export file and I get the following error:

ERROR: Could not find a Joomla! XML setup file in the package

This is going into a joomla 1.12 site.

Any help would be appreciated

I have put a patch together for the 1.4 install that may help. http://bestdownloadsites.com/export/patches/1.4patch/ admin.export_content.zip

overwrite /administrator/components/com_export_content/admin.export_content.php

You will need to compile the data again after adding the patch.

This has not been tested as I will be removing the version beta1.4 shortly.
And releasing new versions that will replace all prior versions and will allow for moving data between Joomla 1.0+ and Joomla 1.5+.
Also if I have the time I might put something together for those moving over from Mambo to Joomla 1.0+ and Joomla 1.5+.

Thanks Steve, as always on the ball and ready to support.

What's happening for joomfish support? and what will happen to older mambo sites, tversions after 1.4 all report sql errors which I have reported in other posts elsewhere.

Hi Geoffrey.

I know you have been after this for a while now.
I have been waiting to see what happens over at joomfish because there was talk of changing the way they did things with encoding etc.
Also there has been no release yet for Joomla 1.5+series that I can work with.
After the next round of Export Content releases are out and debugged I will have another look at it but wont promise anything until I see what going on over at the fish camp.

I have had a look at the sql problems in mambo and put a patch together in another thread. http://bestdownloadsites.com/export/viewtopic.php?t=676 which I will include in the mambo release that should allow for the export of content to all Joomla versions.

So if all goes to plan there should be three Export Content Releases.

One for Joomla 1.0+ series. (Will allow for the movement of content between all Joomla versions).

One for Joomla 1.5+ series.(Will allow for the movement of content between all Joomla versions).

One for Mambo that will cover most releases .(Will allow for the movement of content over to all Joomla versions).
