Here's an idea.

Joomla is missing a component that will allow you to sync the db and site files between a production/construction site server and a live site server.

This is sorely needed and I would gladly pay for such a component.

Good idea you have there. :idea:

I did have a quick look at something along those lines a while back but kept running into remote access problems.

But maybe we could come up with a way to compile either the live site or local site data.

Then when installing it, all the data on the destination site would be dropped and then restored with the new stuff.

That way it would not matter which site local or live you worked on.
It could be synced with the other.

Note: This would only handle the database. You would have to FTP any file changes ( for example hacks to core files ).

Is that the sort of thing you meant?
