tried out several absolutly fresh installed Jommlas - always same problem / procedure.

Installed on Joomla 1.0 12 com_export_content (Version to Joomla 1.0) and exported the content - Installed on Joomla 1.51 com_export_content (Version to Joomla 1.5) - so far so good.
Seems to me not possible to "install" the "import_content_data", because there are only two files inside - "install.mysql.nonutf8.sql" and "install.mysql.utf.sql".

Is it possible to place these two files via FTP in a directory to go on with importing? In which directory should these files be placed?

Hi Peter welcome to the forums.

So to be clear you have install Export Content version 1.7.0 on Joomla version 1.0.12.
And Export Content version 2.0.0 on Joomla version 1.5.1

What I would do is FTP re-upload all the files to /administrator/components/com_content/...
and just over write everything to make sure there are no corrupted files.

Also make sure you have file ownership of all files if your not sure what I mean ask your host to give you file ownership of all file in the above path.

yes - you´re right - this is my actual installation.
I´m using a absolutely fresh installation (every time once again - funny game...) made sure as well to have file-rights 777 to all administrator/components.

Result once again "ERROR: Could not find an _xml_ setup file" - and that is right - there is no xml-file inside of the zip-file. So by NOT having a xml inside the zip installing COULD NOT be a good way. There MUST be a error. And the error is there.
Therefore my question, where to place the two files by ftp from the "import_content_data.zip" manually instead of installing the zip?

Here is a sample install.
Made with Export content version 1.7.0

To be installed on Joomla 1.5+

If this works try unzipping it locally and replace:
"install.mysql.nonutf8.sql" and "install.mysql.utf.sql"
with yours that are generated and re-zip it taking care that it is still named import_content_data.zip
