Do you mean you get the error when pressing the compile for 1.5+ button on the PHP4 site?

If so this has been reported before and is a known bug in some versions of PHP (notably 4.3.2).

This Thread explains it a bit more.

If its possible to update to php5 on the source site the error should disappear.
Either that or post back here and we will see if we can come up with a work around.

i did import the content(small files!!). But the authors names(john doe,john doe1, john doe3) in the different articles have been changed to just one name(john doe)???

Did you get it working without the above warnings?

When Joomla creates author names they are taken from the username and are assigned to a particular user ID so when exporting to another site the user id is not going to be the same or that user(author) may not even be a member.

So when "Export Content" goes through and collects the author names it looks for the author alias as this is the only field that can be successfully migrated.
