Have you changed all permissions to 777 and re-upload Export Content version 1.7 files?

Version 1.6 will only work when moving data between Joomla 1.0+ sites.

AS for the error message.
It is telling you that the file size is two big to upload due to the server setting in the PHP ini
You will either need to change it to something bigger or try compiling less section at a time.

In other words you may need to break it up into a few installs od data.

Re:Cant not export sections 2 Months, 2 Weeks ago Karma: 0
ah thanks
i am only tranfering j1 site to j1 site
so 1. 6 is just fine for me
i am asking my host to increase the 30 to a bigger number on the php.ini file
any suggestions?
again thanks for your help
i have gone to some compenent/plugin or extension or template sites that dont offer any support at all
thanks

***************

by the way i have a suggestion
on the 1.6 component download page i think it would help a lot of people if you said something like
"use if you are only transferring from a j1 site to another j1 site"

when i read X - Obsolete i was like "i must be a crazy person for trying this version of the compenent"
again its just a suggestion

32 or 64meg is usually enough for most things.

All versions after 1.6 do everything that 1.6 does and also allows you to move to 1.5+ sites as well that is why it's marked as Obsolete.

It also does not handle languages other than English as well as the newer versions.

Re:Cant not export sections 2 Months, 2 Weeks ago Karma: 0
oh hehe
well for some reason 1.6 mostly works for me
oh ya another issue or bug or it may just be my server issue

i have 1.7 installed on my main site and i had the 30 second issue on the php.ini
however all i got was a blank screen

but
i have 1.6 on another server and i got a message saying i have a issue about the 30 seconds on the php.ini file

so it may be a issue or jsut something with my server

my hsot changed the 30 to 600

To get around the problem you could try creating a few sections and then using the move or copy feature under category manger move one category at a time into the sections.

Then under export content just try moving one of the newly created sections at a time.

This should get you around any execution time or upload limits set by the server.
