When I try to install the Beta 1.6.zip file I get:

Upload component - Upload Failed
ERROR: Could not find an XML setup file in the package.

[b]I then unzipped the file and placed the contents in the administrator/components/com_installer/component directory

It then says that the component installed:[/b]

I downloaded and installed the 1.5 beta file and everything seems to work now. For some reason it says it is 1.6 though.

I don't know why 1.5 would install but 1.6 would not because the install set-up for both are identical.
The only difference between the two versions are bug fixes and better non English support in 1.6. :?

Anyway the main thing is you seem to have it working now.
