I have a similar problem to some other people here where once the data is imported every imported article has the exact same alias.

It is an alias from an pre-existing article.

This causes a major issue with sef urls meaning that none of the articles can be a accessed

I have checked the compiled mysql installation file and after export everything is correct.

I also checked the jos_export_content table on the destination site and once again the aliases are all correct. the problem seems to occur during the import from the jos_export_content table to the jos_content table.

I have joomla 1.5.20 , PHP version 5.2.9 and mysql version 5.0.91

Overall I think the extension is brilliant, I just would like to see it import the article aliases correctly.

Any suggestions?

Yes this is very odd.

How did you transfer the data, was it by section, category or single items?
Could you please try each method to see if you get the same result, thanks.

The last report of this was fine on one site but not another.

I think by memory it might have been something corrupted in the Joomla install as it seemed to work correctly on another site install.

That said I would love to get to the bottom of the cause.

Thanks for your response.

I've emailed you the install package.

I am doing the import via sections. Not sure how to do it via categories or articles, will have a play with it today.

As I mentioned, when I look at the actual jos_export_content table all the records look in order, the alias are all correct as they should be.

It's only when I do the next step and do the actual import that it all get messed up.

Will give it another try using categories this time.

I just tested and see what you mean.
I get the same aliases when transferring by sections.

I will have to look into this.

For now though an easy fix is to transfer by categories as this seems to work as it should.

In the left menu of export content look for "Insert Categories"

So if you create the sections:
Dreamweaver Step by Step
Dreamweaver Tutorials CS3
Dreamweaver Tutorials CS4
Dreaweaver Tutorials MX - 8
Dreamweaver and CSS

And then just move the categories into them you should be good to go.

I will post back when I have more time to look into the cause of the moving by sections issue.

I will try the category thing right now. One question though.

Do I need to do categories one section at a time? I mean do I need to import on section worth of categories then the next etc, or can I do them all at once?

I'm just trying to understand the system logic.
